We are very thankful to our amazing community who generously volunteer their time and energy to help support our school.
The Department of Education require all volunteers to complete and submit a Volunteer Declaration Form to the Front Office before commencement. This form is available here and also from the front office.
You are considered a volunteer when you assist in the classroom with activities such as reading sessions or art sessions, day excursions, canteen duties, helping at the sports carnival or carrying out P&C duties.
This form must be completed by a:
- parent volunteering in child-related work at a public school or site
- a child under 18 years of age volunteering in child-related work at a public school or site
(e.g. practicum student under 18 on placement) – signed by their parent or guardian.
Individuals issued with a Negative Notice or Interim Negative Notice under the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004 cannot volunteer in child-related work.
P&C Committee (Parents & Citizens)
Mount Lawley Primary School is lucky to have an amazing P&C Committee! The P&C works to support the school and promote its interests by bringing together parents, teachers, students, and the wider community. They help provide resources, facilities, and opportunities that benefit all students, while also fostering community involvement in school life. P&C meetings are held on Thursdays of Week 5 each term, starting at 5:30pm in the staffroom. We encourage all families to get involved and attend meetings, participate in events, and help with activities. It is a great way to meet other families, contribute to the school, and make a difference in your child’s learning journey. For more information, visit the P&C tab on the school website.
LAP Volunteers
LAP is a student-centred and volunteer-based programme designed to assist schools with implementing one-on-one learning that supports the wellbeing and learning outcomes of their students. MLPS has proudly been involved with LAP for over 26 years and are hoping to continue this program into 2026.
To assist with this, we are currently looking for community volunteers who are able to spend one hour a week with a nominated student to mentor and guide then in various learning areas.
No experience is necessary as classroom teacher will provide suitable resources and activities for volunteers to work on with their nominated student.
To sign up or learn more about the program, please click on this link by Tuesday 2 March 2026.
For further questions regarding the program, please don't hesitate to contact the program coordinators, Ali Roberts (alexandra.roberts@education.wa.edu.au) or Chloe Wu (jinyin.wu@education.wa.edu.au).
